*** DeBox DataType V40.2 ***
by Christian Buchner
This is a datatype for the images that can be decoded with
debox.library (see explanation below). This datatype is loosely
based on the BMP datatype sourcecodes found in the OS 3.1 Native
Developer Kit. This datatype was originally written by David
N.Junod. All changes were done by Christian Buchner.
Installation
------------
Copy devs/Datatypes/DeBox#? SYS:devs/Datatypes/
Copy classes/Datatypes/debox.datatype SYS:classes/Datatypes/
Now reboot or type "AddDatatypes REFRESH" in a shell.
Introduction
------------
The debox.library is used for CDTV and CD32 applications. It is
ROM-Resident in these machines. So it is most likely that you
can find such images on CDs created for CDTV and CD32.
One example is the advertisement CD "Hören und Sehen" produced
by Commodore Germany. The images on "Defender of the Crown II"
can be loaded as well.
Since most people do not own debox.library and since it is not
freely distributable, I examined how it works and wrote a
datatype for these images. I admit that I have cut some
decrunching code out of that library, but I hope you won't mind.
If you own another CD with DeBox images, please let me know the
name of that CD. I am also very interested in the developer
materials (AutoDocs, Includes) for this library.
History
-------
Changes since V40.1
-now implements recursive decrunching (used for some pics on
Defender of the Crown II)
-allows the header structure to be crunched as well (caused
trouble with some pix on Defender of the Crown II)
Bugs
----
None known at the moment. I hope all features of this datatype
are now tested out.
If you experience any problems, please let me know.
Famous last words
-----------------
Thanks to Alexander Reifinger for supplying debox.library and
"Defender of the Crown II". Without him, I would never have
managed to get hold of the decrunching stuff.
